Semester Break~!! July 10, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — littleburrow @ 12:23 pm

Semester break is coming to an end so soon! :(   Starting semester 2 next Monday and hope I can still do well or even better in Semester 2! :D Haven’t been blogging ever since Semester 1 examination, and so lack of words to blog. :D Anyways, I went to Melbourne for two weeks to visit Pa, Ma and Ying. I flew with the seniors (Yi Huey, Chian Mei, Shiou Yii and Shaz) to Melbourne but were separated at Melbourne airport because Ying and Pa came to pick me up and the seniors went to city to check in their hotel but I meet them up the next day for dinner at Sofia.

MELBOURNE

Me after a long flight from Dunedin – Christchurch – Melbourne!

The salad, the pastas and the pizza! :9

And of course the desserts!!

Back row: Me and YH
Front row: SY, Shaz and CM

SY, Shaz and CM posing in front of the camera~

Me and Shaz

All of us had a wonderful and a very full night! :D

GOLD COAST

We went to Gold Coast for the weekends! It’s was so nice for Pa to keep his promise to bring me there because he left me alone at home when the whole family went there 10 years or so ago. Of course took a lot of pictures and since Ying is the photographer, so most of the photos taken will have my face in them! :D

We went to the theme parks (just the Movie World and Sea World) because it was so windy and cold so we didn’t go to the Wet ‘n’ Wild World. Of course, Gold Coast was so much warmer than Dunedin and Melbourne and I did enjoy the warmest of the sun!

Movie World

Took some photos with the mascots! Tweety!!

And of course need some photos with Pa and Ma too!

Ying also had a fantastic time with Ma and Pa! And of course ME! :D

Ma finally brought herself a churros which cost AUD$3.50 :O

This is my favorite ride out of all the rides! :D Had so much fun laughing at Ma’s expression after the ride! Hahaha..

Hard Rock Cafe

Went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and Pa brought me a Hard Rock Cafe T-shirt! Thank you!

Taking photos while waiting for the food!

And here we go! Delicious foods being served! BBQ ribs and chicken as usual! :D

Sea World

I think I preferred Sea World than Movie World because Sea World can see animal shows but not much on rides, although I did ride on the Jet Rescue! :P

The shows were awesome! So nice to see how the trainee communicate with the animals, it’s like there is some connections between the animals and the trainers! It was so AMAZING!! :D

Took this last photos before heading back to the hotel!

We head off to Melbourne the next day and for the rest of the days in Melbourne, all I did was eat, shopping and sleep! :D Such a wonderful life~!! And when it’s time to separate from Ma and Ying, I didn’t cry this time because I’m more nervous than sad! It’s my first time alone taking a plane all by myself! :S But it turns out alright~!! Hehehe :D Hope to go Melbourne again to spend some more time with Ying :) (maybe end of this year before heading back to Brunei!)

And this is a collage of my individual photos during the trip! :D Thanks Ying! *hugs*

Reached Dunedin in the evening and was welcomed by the Cumbian Bruneian :D And I have to practice for the dance move for the International Cultural Night. For the last weekend before semester starts, Haji planned to go to the Otago Peninsula. The court people decided to bike all their ways there and so we, the cumbian were too lazy to bike and decided to take a bus. But then, when we viewed at the map of the peninsula, it was too huge to be finished in half a day so we decided again not to go but to go to Baldwin Street (steepest street in the world). However, on our way to the street, the wind was too strong and hence, we decided again it’s too dangerous to go in such windy weather but continue heading towards Botanic Garden which in also on the way to Baldwin Street.

Thanks to Ying again for borrowing me her G10! Although everything there was almost dead, but we had a great time there taking lots of pictures with different kind of weird poses! Hahaha..

Rafidah inside the glass house

Shan, the pitcher plant reminds me of you~ Thanks for helping me to buy the souvenir for my RA!

Wani, Yee Hui, Rafidah and Annemarie with the duck foods. All ready to feed the ducks.

Annemarie being chased by the ducks. The ducks were all so hungry, all snatching for foods. Poor Wani was being attacked by them because she was too slow in giving them the foods. Hahahaha..

Anne, YH, Me and Raf

Posing with the statue.

The Gangsters! :O

Posing at the stairs :D

Emo-ing!

The last picture before heading back Cumby! The princesses in the middle with 2 bodyguards! Hahaha..

That’s all for now! Hope everything will be fine for the next semester. Wish me luck for Sem 2~!! :D

I MISS BRUNEI!!! May 10, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — littleburrow @ 10:11 pm

Memories flashed back to those days that I mingle around at CHMS or at the mall with family or friends. I missed those days in Brunei so badly these few days!! I missed those family trips that we had almost every year but now, it’s getting fewer and fewer! There are holiday trips but without full members due to the different holidays at different parts of the word. I think the last family trip was the Eurotrip at 2008.

Remembered the times when we walked till everyone collapsed on the bench near Arc de Trompe, Louvre was closed but took lots of pictures, Ying lost her hat and Shan lost her phone at EuroDisney but we ended up having a smile back home, eating dates at Durham, sang songs till midnight at Scotland and watch Korean drama at Yang’s hostel!

I missed all my family members!! I missed arguing with Pa and missed being nagged by Ma. I leave Brunei so sudden that I don’t even have the time to spend with my family members especially my siblings. I have only one day to actually pack my things into the luggage and 1 night to call all my aunties and uncles to inform them I am leaving tomorrow! I don’t even have time to spend with Pa and Ma that night and even worse, I slept alone in my huge bed back in Brunei! I missed the time when any one of my siblings came back home and the house is filled with noises which was quite irritating because I’m still studying at that moment. I missed cuddling and hugging my sisters although Shan don’t usually let me do that but Ying will definitely cuddle/hug me back!! :D I also missed the time when we had our 3 sisters outing at Singapore and Brunei, especially sitting at the café and laughed loudly without any worries. Of course, I do missed those precious times with Yang who taught me Maths, Chem or Physics. Pa would always encourage me to do stuff that Ma don’t really supports e.g. watching NBA, shopping for groceries. I missed shopping for groceries at Supa Save with Pa! Whereas for Ma, thanks for your support and the effort that you had put in over these years!! I MISS YOU ALL!!! xoxo

Of course, I also do miss my friends in Brunei and other parts of the world! Especially those friends who accompanied me during my years in Chung Hwa Middle School. Playing basketball and netball together were fun and of course going to the canteen in a whole gang was also cool! Hahaha..

Still remember the days where we go to the CHMS new building’s toilet to cam-whore?

Memories of class reunion at beach, Prom Night, surprised birthday parties, Raya Celebration at MD, basketball team of CHMS…

that’s all for now!

Nights!! xoxo

Dunedin April 29, 2011

*wiping off spider webs that grew over for the past few months*

YAY!! Finally have the mood to blog now! By the way, this is my first time blogging in New Zealand. A month ago, I left Brunei and came to a new land called New Zealand and settled down at a small town called Dunedin.

Took some pictures with friends before leaving my nest, Brunei!

Faizah, me, Suaidah and Misa

Me and Suaidah (my first best Malay friend and also first friend to email me when I arrived in NZ)!! *hugs hugs* :P

Angela, Angel, Me and Siew Wen
Thanks for coming to the airport to sent me off! Really appreciated the moments we spent together for the past few years!! :D

Then off I go and arrived in Auckland airport after 9 hours of flight! And need to stay in the airport for time to fly for 5 hours before flying off to Dunedin. So, we wondered around airport during mid-night and of course took some pictures..

Rafidah, Yee Hui and Syazwani

Me and Yee Hui after 9 hours of flight!! *horrible*

The seniors did pick us up at the airport and the 10 of us split into 2 groups because college does not have enough space for the 10 of us to stay and we are also the late comers. So, me, Yee Hui, Rafidah and Syazwani stayed in Cumby College and the rest stayed in the Court. Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages of staying in cumby la, but don’t want to speak it out to spoil my mood! hehehe..

Yee Hui (my one and only Chinese first year friend) studying at my room!

Clearer view of my room. It’s kind of small but cozy! Just enough for 1 person to live and study :)

Meet the Malaysians! All the girls are from my corridor, very friendly and helpful!

Syazwani, our clown at Cumby! She can really dance and sing to entertain us whenever we wanted her to! But now, things might have changed la!

Cumby always organised games and activities to fill our life to the fullest! The first activity I signed up at Cumby was Disco Ice-Skating on one of the Sunday night!

The lighting and music was so nice! Hope to go there again! :)

Wani, Joselyn and Me
Getting ready to skate!

From Left: Boston (my RA (residential assistant), Jenny, Joselyn, Me and Shangeetha

At the bus coming back to Cumby!

And for this Easter, Cumby did also organised eating chocolate stuffs. I didn’t join because I don’t want to exercise for 2 weeks to burn off those chocolate that I must eat during the competition.

Brain freeze, eating 5 scoops of chocolate ice cream
Raj (3rd from the right) was our corridor representative

Picnic, to eat a bar of picnic in the shortest period of time.
Kiong, our corridor representative.

M&M (sucking M&M and pass it to the next person using straws)

And if the M&M drop, this is how it is. Sucking up the M&M on the floor using straws, no hands are allowed.

My corridor came last for all those competitions because my corridor mates are all Asians, how to win Ang Mo leh? hehehe.. :P

Before Easter break and before Boston leave NZ to go to Perth for holiday, we celebrated her birthday. I made a card for her. Not that pretty but good enough with the limited things I have here.

I used cardboard and cello-taped or glued it with colored papers for the card as well as the alphabet.

All Asians celebrating a Kiwi’s birthday! :P
Happy Birthday Boston!! :)

Well, Brunei Student Association(BSA) also did organised some activities, e.g movie night, laser tag, beach outing and sport day. The movie night at Lee Shen’s house was horrible, terrible, vegetable. Not that night was bad but they were watching horror movie, what am I going to do? So I siok sendiri at Lee Shen’s room lo.. Did gossip with Yi Huey, Chian Mei and Yee Hui for a while and they went to watch the 2nd movie, so I watched korean variety show using Lee Shen’s laptop. :)

BSA did bring us for some fun activities like laser tag, bowling and mini golf.

Group photo of BSA members!

And also for the sports day, I only participated in Badminton because I don’t know how to play futsal

The team that won for Futsal with BSA’s president and vice presidents

We did also managed to go to St. Kilda beach and St. Clair beach, and also on the way back home, there was also a Gypsy Fair at the Oval. Nothing much there, but we get to see so many gypsy styled stuffs and ate cotton candy! yummy~

Wani, Rafidah, Shikin and me

Waiting for the shuttle bus to pick us up!

While waiting for the others to come, we did some photo snapping in the playground.

On the whale: Syazwani, Hazwani, Amalina, Shaz and 2 ang mo kids

Standing: Me, Rafidah and Zuliza

Everyone came and took a group photos! :)

Before heading off to the beach, took some pictures again. -__-”

YH, Wani, Raf and Me

Finally, to the beach!!

As usual, did some jump shots and it was successful!

Hope that this will come true~!!

Another group photos by the beach!

Having lunch at St. Clair.
Chian Mei, Shiou Yii, Yi Huey and me

Had a really fun easter holiday with the seniors and Bruneians as well as the Malaysian friends. But time flies so fast, and holiday is going to end so soon! :( Everything need to get back to normal and need to start studying for the upcoming test!! :(

For this easter, I did something that made me proud of! I gave my first easter gift to my seniors because they are just sooo kind and caring to me. So, I did a card and brought a lotion for them because their skins are soo dry and they seldom put on hand lotion. So, I as a lovely junior brought them a lotion so they have no excuse to not put it on!! Hehehe :)

Cute leh? Hope they like it!! :)

That’s all for now! I will try to keep blogging whenever I’m free!! :)

xoxo

August – September 2010~ September 11, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — littleburrow @ 11:25 pm

Since I have the time now, I will just briefly go through what I did during the month of August and September 2010.. :)

Finished my mock exam at the end of August, then JC 大嫂 came to visit Brunei for 3-4 days. So we (Yang, JC, Shan and me) went to Empire to sleep over and ate a lot of delicious foods especially Ah Lai’s Kolo Mee!!

Ah Lai’s Kolo Mee is back!!!

JC, Shan and me

LDR 的鸳鸯

4 of us at Empire’s Beach~

The next important event was my Birthday~!! Well, Yang and Shan only brought me a cake.. no dinner cause we had it the day before with JC.. But at least there’s a cake for me to make a wish!! hehehe..

Shan lighting up my cake~

May all my wishes come true~!!

Next was Shan’s Birthday~ Cause it’s her 21st birthday so we went to Villa Mauri to celebrate her ‘grand’ 21st birthday.. hahahaa..

Exam’s OVER!!! May 30, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — littleburrow @ 8:19 am

YEAH!! Finished my June As examination on Tuesday and now I have the mood and time to blog and update my blog.. Hahaha.. Need to clear all the spider webs.. xp~ As I promised on the previous post(if you still remembered), I’m going to post about the Belalong Trip~

On the 18th of March which 1st term holiday, Bio Dept offered 20 Bio students to go for a trip at Belalong organised by UBD.. So I did sign up and thanks to MD for subsidising more than half of the fees.. Each students need to pay only $50 for 4 days and 3 nights!!

So let’s start the journey~

Mizah, Mimi and Amal on the speed boat going from Brunei Jetty to Temburong Jetty

Michelle and Ik

Since the ride was about 45 minutes so I took some pictures of Brunei’s forest

BRUNEI IS SO GREEN!!~ XP

Finally after a long and dizzy ride, we reached Temburong Jetty

Welcome To Temburong District~!!

Everyone took their own bags and wondered around Temburong town for about 15 miuntes to buy some drinks and snacks

Everyone on the road going to another point where the long boats are..

There~ Life jackets on!

All of us ready for ride on the long boat to the KBFSC’s center

The newly renovated center

Can you believe there is a plasma TV here? But then we didn’t manage to switch on the TV because I think there’s no signal.. -_-”

Views from our living room and room that we lived in~

The electricity were run by generators so light and fans will be off from 11pm-6am and 9am-4pm..

It was super duper hot at noon which we always came back for lunch!!

These were my room mates~

Janessa, Rafidah and Yee Hui

We spent our first night in the lab.. The UBD’s teacher briefed about Temburong Forest and what are going to do the next morning.. She did show us some specimens of preserved animals and plants..

One showing us a purple snake (forgot the name) and one showing us a wood which cost for millions of dollars..  $_$

On the way to our chalet, Siddeq found a huge beetle on the floor and picked it up!!

Well, for the first night, I didn’t sleep well and woke up at 5 a.m!! Anyways, most of the girls didn’t sleep well though~ After eating breakfast, we went up about 50m of stairs and hiked along Ashton Trail.

Group photo before going up the stairs~

We went on the Ashton Trail for the 1st day and Sungai Mata Ikan for the 2nd day. We hiked for 3km up hill down hill and it was DAMN TIRING but it was fun to interact with the nature.. Especially with the sound of the hornbills =)

Delicious foods after the hike~ hahaha..

Oh yea, we saw the German researchers sun bathing.. hahaha..

After lunch, we went back to our chalet and the next activity was insect catching and preserving!! This was the most easiest part of the whole trip!! Because all you need to do was just catch it, kill it (suffocate it with chemical), poke it with needle and tada!! So easy (but cruel) and you don’t need to hike! hahhaa..

We were divide in to groups of 5 people and start catching!!

Killing and Poking~

These were the insects that our group caught~ After these, the UBD’s teachers will put them into the oven to ‘bake them’.. so that there won’t be any water molecules in it..

Well basically, that was what we did for the first day.. and of course we did take some pictures around center

Had all the girls taking picture with Ms. Lim since she was the one who brought us here.. hehehe

Playing ‘Police and Assassins’ all of the nights and won’t get bored of it because there was no other games.. hahaha

The 2nd day, we went down a very very steep slope to the Sungai Mata Ikan to study on the stream ecology.

Catching macroorganisms, measuring temperature and pH

(Opps! I noticed that there were 2 Mirul in this picture! xp )

Akid, Shafiqah, Mimi and Mizah on the slope

Look how steep the slope was!

Well, the stream ecosytem was not as tiring as what I expected and in the afternoon, we were told that we will be going to the canopy walk which was more tiring than Ashton Trail although it was a shorter path..

Tadaa~~ Top of Temburong District..

No luck for any hornbills :( hahahha…

We didn’t head back to the center after the canopy walk.. We were brought to a damped, dark and cold waterfall

I was so tired by that time and I didn’t enjoy much here.. hahaha

Finally, we were brought back to the center and each group was assigned to do a presentation before we leave the center.. So we had only about 2 hours to prepare our presentation.. Luckily, our topics was “Nutrients Cycle In Forest Ecosystem”

Everyone trying their best on their projects

BRAINSTORMING!!

This is our poster~ Nice leh xP

And everyone did well in their presentation!!

After the presentation, the UBD’s teacher brought us our preserved insects from the oven (freshly baked) hahaha..

Me putting our insects with their labels on into the box

All the insects caught by MD students..

My favourite was Raja Brooke (the black and green butterfly) which I think was an endangered species..

But we still catch and kill it (Sorry!) hahahhaa..

The next morning, everyone were ready to go back to civilisation!! hahaha..

Group photos outside the center before heading off..

Amal and the menu at Bangar Town

(Left to Right): Mirul, Rafidah, Mimi and Mizi

Michelle and I

Aziz and Akid trying to blend into the photo..

Before and After~

Everyone was so tired after the trip..

Well, these were the things I did during my 1st term holiday.. I did enjoy and learn a lot of things in this trip.. Especially endurance which you need to push yourself to the limit or you can’t go back to the center and also teamwork!

Finally I will end with this picture

Me in Temburong Rainforest~

(Lastly, good luck for those who were still  having their exams)

Update! March 22, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — littleburrow @ 8:45 pm

Got back from Belalong, Temburong yesterday.. Slept the whole day so decided to blog what happened before I went to Belalong Field Trip.. But this post is not for the Belalong Field Trip cause need to take some pictures from Akid (the photographer).. will post it after school reopen!

So what happened long long time again, back in February was we ( meng, wen, boon, xin yi n me) went to Charcoal to celebrate Xin Yi’s 18th Birthday..

The ‘Happy Go Lucky’ Birthday girl~

She’s legal now~

Know what she’s doing? Trying to pull out the candle (pushed deep down by us) by just using her mouth!

hahaha…

There! Her wishes will come true~

4 of us at Charcoal

Taken by the waiter of Charcoal

Took quite a lot of pictures that day~

After Xin Yi’s Birthday, we celebrated another person’s birthday from our group who was Yih Boon at Korea Restaurant at Kiulap.. But this time, meng can’t make it..

So the 4 of us had a great time~

Xin Yi with Korean pancake~ YUMMYYY~~!!!

We brought her ice-cream instead of cake because she had the pantang that cannot eat cake if her birthday was celebrated late~

Boon opening her pressie from Wen~

It’s her favourite choco!!

Trying to be a “lady” on her 18th birthday~

Waahahahaha!!!

All of us laughed happily and enjoyed the night!!

Before I end my post, I have something to share with all of you!!

That was on the 18th of March, before I went to the Belalong Field Trip, it was the Award Day for the A Level and Lower Sixes 2009!

Surprisingly, I was one of the Top 10 Achievers, I got Top 2 after Justin. I was also awarded the Top Achiever by subject in both Chemistry and Physics! YEAH!!!

Awards~

Certificates~

Trophy~

I was quite dissapointed when I got 2 envelopes from Chemistry and Physics Department (I thought was just a card) as other departments gave their top archiever presents.. BUT when I opened the envelopes, it was a $50 vouchers to spend on Booker! So I ended up having $100 vouchers.. Hahah.. Thanks to all Chem n Physics teachers~!!!

I will end here~

Enjoy!

xoxo

Results are out! February 7, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — littleburrow @ 7:56 pm

It’s been a long time I have not blogged… hahah.. busy with school homeworks and MPRs again.. As what Ying always said : “Why every time I called, you are having test tomorrow? ” Seems like I’m having tests every week huh.. hahhaha.. anyways.. O/As/A level results are all out.. Admission for Lower 6 2010 starts tomorrow..

What results I got? Let’s start from the lousiest one first:

GP = e (Got to improve owh! Taking again this November because June ones is very tough!!)

Biology = b (resitting in June)

Maths = a (Wuhoo)

Physics = a (Wuhooooo!!!!)

Chemistry = a (WUHOOOOOOOO!!!!)

Well, actually the results are what I’m expecting la.. Just that I’m so lucky don’t need to resit all the 3 sciences just Bio.. To answer Shan question, “Why resit. cannot just do better in A2 meh?”  Erm… unless I do very very well in A2 Bio or else I will still get a B or even a C grade.. since there are 3 chances to try on (on left 2 June n November 2010) and other grades can be carried forward.. why not resit it on June.. At least I still can try my luck whether I can get a grade or not lo.. Heheh.. *Shan, hope you get it…*

I’m just so bored that’s whyI do all the explanation on my blog or else nothing to blog.. wahahaha..

tata~
